How to Reach Shillong

Shillong is connected by air directly to Mumbai, Kolkata, Guwahati and Patna. It is also connected by rail to Delhi via Guwahati. Public buses run from various points in the city and nearby regions making the hilly region easily accessible for tourists.

By Air:

Shillong is well-connected from Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, Guwahati with all major domestic and international airlines operating flights to and from here. Cabs, buses and taxis are easily available outside the airport. There is an option of hiring a local taxi for sightseeing around Shillong which can be done on your own or through tour operators in Shillong.

By Train:

The nearest railway station is Guwahati Railway Station located about 100 kilometres away from Shillong. It has daily trains plying between Guwahati/Tinsukia to Kolkata/New Jalpaiguri, New Delhi/Dibrugarh Town/Kamakhya for those travelling northwards or towards south Bengal using this route. You can also visit and enjoy the view at Nohkalikai Falls (Noh Kalikai) by taking a halt here.

By Road:

Shillong is well-connected to all major towns and cities of India via roadways. There are various private tour operators that operate daily tours from Shillong to Guwahati, Guwahati to Shillong, etc. for those who do not want to spend on travelling in their own cars or taxis. You can hire any kind of local transport available in Shillong like an autorickshaw, tempo traveller, tempos, etc. depending on your budget and requirement for sightseeing in and around Shillong.
