An 18-year-old girl named Walinda Binong, who was pursuing a course on fashion design at Mody University in Sikar, Rajasthan, was found dead inside her hostel room. The deceased was a resident of Nongpoh, Meghalaya.
The police were informed after the university authorities were alerted by Walinda's friends, who got concerned after she did not show up for breakfast and did not respond to their continuous knocking and banging on her door. Upon breaking the door, they found Walinda hanging. The post-mortem report suggests that Walinda died from asphyxiation, and the report for toxic substances is awaited.
Her family suspects foul play. According to her friends, Walinda was very lively and did not show any signs of depression or stress. The investigation is ongoing.
