The 83rd Annual Senior National Table Tennis Championship was inaugurated this Monday at Shillong's SAI Complex. Metbah Lyngdoh, the speaker, expressed his sadness over Deenadayalan Vishwa's demise, a promising 18-year-old Table Tennis champion, in a vehicle accident this Sunday. All the championship participants observed silence for two minutes to commemorate his loss.

“I was completely shocked and sad to hear about the road accident, in which one of Tamil Nadu's top players perished yesterday, where his vehicle collided with a truck," Lyngdoh said. The speaker expressed his gratitude to the Table Tennis Association of India for hosting the national tournament in his state and thanked the local association for hosting it.

"I believe playing this sport improves your activity more than any other sport," he stated. He went on to explain how difficult it is for athletes to perform at a high level of performance, despite their flexibility and endurance. He also complimented the players for representing the brand in wonderful light.

The Sports Minister of Meghalaya, Banteidor Lyngdoh, delivered the state government's condolences to the family members of the young paddler during a solemn ceremony at Shillong. "It is not just a tragedy for his family; it is also a loss for our nation's sporting community," he stated.

The Sports Minister stated that the Meghalaya government is preoccupied with improving sports infrastructure. He announced that the sports department will organize the fourth Meghalaya Games in May, as well as a Northeast Olympics this year, in November.
