Pratima Bhoumik, Inaugurates Services Specifically for Shillong's CRC Through A Virtual Platform

Services for the Composite Regional Centre for Skill Development, Rehabilitation, & Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan) were virtually launched by the Union Minister of State for Social Justice & Empowerment – Pratima Bhoumik in Shillong at U Soso Tham Auditorium.

The launch was attended by Kyrmen Shylla; Ampareen Lyngdoh; and senior government officials.

Bhoumik stressed that Prime Minister Modi is working to implement numerous disability-related benefits in India during the inaugural ceremony.

The Minister informed the House that the newly-created CRC will provide services to People with Disabilities (Divyangjan) and contribute to Meghalaya's human resource development.

The Minister extended her appreciation to the Meghalaya government for providing a 10-acre land at Umsawli of East Khasi Hills for the construction of CRC's permanent structure, and she expressed gratitude that the foundation stone for this structure would be laid next week.

"CRC will cater to the rehabilitation services for different sorts of PwDs, as well as skill-building training for PwDs so that they may live independently in society," she said.

Furthermore, the Minister for Social Welfare – Kyrmen Shylla informed reporters that the government has set up camps to distribute assistive technology and equipment, as well as Universal ID Cards for Divyangjan, which will be accepted throughout India.

He also highlighted the Accessible-India Campaign, which is now being conducted in all of India to increase accessibility for everyone.
