Union Minister (State for Home Affairs) Nityanand Rai is all set to inaugurate a land port that has been newly constructed in the Dawki town of Meghalaya today.

The inauguration of the land port is anticipated to improve the India-Bangladesh trade & commerce significantly, and it will act as a pivotal transportation centre between the two nations.

Prestone Tynsong, Deputy CM,  and the High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh will join the Union Minister of State for Home Affairs during the inauguration ceremony. The land port is located 84 km from the state capital and will enable the smooth passage of goods, people, and vehicles across the India-Bangladesh border.

The newly constructed land port in Dawki, Meghalaya, is expected to facilitate the movement of people, goods, and vehicles across the border between India and Bangladesh. The land port is located about 84 km away from the state capital and will serve as a vital trade and transportation hub between the two countries.

The opening of the land port is expected to boost trade and commerce between India and Bangladesh by providing an efficient and easy way to transport goods across the border. This will be particularly beneficial for the people living in the Northeastern region of India, who will now have better access to markets in Bangladesh and other Southeast Asian countries.

The land port will also provide a new route for trade with Southeast Asia, as it is located on the highway that connects India to Myanmar and Thailand via Bangladesh. It will also serve as a key transit point for the proposed India-Myanmar-Thailand Trilateral Highway.

Overall, the new land port in Dawki is expected to bring significant economic benefits to the region and strengthen the trade and cultural ties between India and Bangladesh.
