Jol War Dance Festival

The Jaintias observe the Jol War Dance, a festival founded by the Jaintia Kings as part of their pledge to celebrate their culture. The three day Jol War Dance begins on a Thursday night at Nartiang Daju near Cherrapunjee and ends on Saturday with a grand display of fire dance and traditional folk dance forms.

During the three days of the Jol War Dance, all rituals are to be performed by Pnars - men that have attained maturity and are supposed to possess powers allowing them to take part in the celebrations.
